That would be Shaq’s mom, Lucille O’Neal. And she is the president of Mothers of Professional Basketball Players (MPBP), which is partnering with Camelot Fabrics in the Sew SocialProject to benefit Quilts for Kids. We are always looking for projects like this to tell you about in The Quilt Life in the Helping Hands section, but this one will be ending before we can get it into print, so telling you about it here will have to do.
Quilts for Kids is an organization dedicated to providing comfort to children of abuse and those with life-threatening illnesses. The comfort comes in the form of quilts (naturally!). MPBP is really active with charity work and fundraising efforts, to fulfill an obligation to their communities and make an investment into the lives of children there. Kudos to Camelot Fabrics for creating the Sew Social Project, too. It’s amazing the wonderful things that can happen when diverse groups come together for the purpose of “making a difference.”
This effort is only going on until December so check it out now, before the big push on Christmas-present quilts kicks in. Click here to find out how you can help….Jan Magee, The Quilt Life
