Cutting Instructions

From the dark purple, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares

From the purple fabric, cut:
(4) 2 ½” x 2 ½” squares

From the dark yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles

From the light yellow fabric, cut:
(1) 2 ½” x 2 ½” squares
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares

From the background fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles
(12) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares

Assembly

Square in a Square

Mark the wrong side of the background 1 1/2” squares diagonally once. Lay a marked square on the corner of a purple 2 1/2” square and sew on the marked line. Trim a quarter inch from the marked line and press. Repeat on all two more adjacent corners and light yellow for the final corner.

Unit measures 2 1/2″ square. Make 4.

Repeat with the dark purple 1 1/2″ squares and light yellow 2 1/2″ square. Make 1.

Block Assembly

Use the block diagram above to layout the block into three rows. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.

Block measures 6 ½” x 6 ½” unfinished.
