Cutting Instructions
From the teal fabric, cut:
(6) 2″ x 2″ squares
(12) 1½” x 1½” squares
(12) 1″ x 1″ squares
(8) 1″ x 1½” rectangles
(8) 1½” x 2″ rectangles
From the dark sky fabric, cut:
(8) 1″ x 1″ squares
(4) 1″ x 1½” rectangles
(1) 1½” x 1½” square
From the white fabric, cut:
(6) 2″ x 2″ squares
(4) 1½” x 2½” rectangles
(4) 1″ x 1″ squares
Unit Assembly
Half Square Triangles (HST)
Mark the wrong side of the white 2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked square over a teal 2″ square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.
Unit measures 1½” square. Make 12.
Flying Geese
Mark the wrong side of the teal 1½” squares diagonally once. Lay a marked square on the corner of a white 1½” x 2½” rectangle and sew on the marked line. Trim a quarter inch from the marked line and press. Repeat the process with a teal 1½” square on the other end of the triangle.
Unit measures 1½” x 2½” rectangle. Make 4.
Four Patch
Sew a dark sky 1″ square to a teal 1″ square. Make 2.
Sew the two units together as shown below to make the Four Patch.
Unit measures 1½” square. Make 4.
Square Unit
Sew a teal 1″ square to a white 1″ square.
Sew a teal 1″ x 1½” rectangle to the top of the previous unit as shown below.
Unit measures 1½” square. Make 4.
Block Assembly
Corner Unit
Sew a Four Patch unit to a HST as shown below.
Sew a Square unit to a HST as shown below.
Sew the two units together to make a Corner unit.
Unit measures 2½” square. Make 4.
Middle Section
Sew a teal 1″ x 1½” rectangle to a dark sky 1″ x 1½” rectangle. Sew a teal 1½” square to the dark sky rectangle.
Unit measures 1½”” x 2½” rectangle. Make 4.
Block Center
Sew a Corner unit to each side of a Middle Section as shown below.
Unit measures 5½” x 2½” rectangle. Make 2.
Sew a Middle Section to opposite sides of a dark sky 1½” square.
Unit measures 5½” x 1½” rectangle. Make 1.
Sew the three previous sections together as shown below to complete the block center.
Unit measures 5½” square. Make 1.
Putting it all Together
Sew a teal 1½” x 2″ rectangle to each side of a Flying Geese to make a Side unit. Make 4.
Sew a Side unit to each side of the block center as shown below.
Block middle measures 7½” x 5½” rectangle. Make 1.
Sew a HST to each end of the remaining side units as shown below.
Top and Bottom units measure 7½” x 1½” rectangle. Make 2.
Sew to the top and bottom units to the block middle as shown below to complete the block.
Block measures 7½” square.
