Cutting Instructions

From the teal fabric, cut:
(2) 2″ x 2″ squares
(16) 1½” x 1½” squares
(24) 1″ x 1″ squares
(4) 1½” x 2½” rectangles

From the dark sky fabric, cut:
(12) 1″ x 1″ squares

From the white fabric, cut:
(2) 2″ x 2″ squares
(4) 1½” x 2½” rectangles
(12) 1″ x 1″ squares
(1) 1½” x 1½” square

Unit Assembly

Half Square Triangles (HST)

Mark the wrong side of the white 2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked square over a teal 2″ square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.

Unit measures 1½” square. Make 4.

Flying Geese

Mark the wrong side of the teal 1½” squares diagonally once. Lay a marked square on the corner of a white 1½” x 2½” rectangle and sew on the marked line. Trim a quarter inch from the marked line and press. Repeat the process with a teal 1½” square on the other end of the triangle.

Unit measures 1½” x 2½” rectangle. Make 4.

Four Patch Units

Sew a dark sky 1″ square to a teal 1″ square. Make two and sew together in opposite directions as shown below.

Unit measures 1½” square. Make 4.

Sew a white 1″ square to a teal 1″ square. Sew a dark sky 1″ square to a teal 1″ square. Sew together in opposite directions as shown below.

Unit measures 1½” square. Make 4.

Squares Units

Sew a teal 1″ square to a white 1″ square.

Unit measures 1″ x 1½” rectangle. Make 8.

Block Assembly

Sew a dark sky/teal Four Patch unit to a teal 1½” square. Repeat with a white/teal/dark sky Four Patch. Sew together in opposite directions as shown below.

Unit measures 2½” x 2½” square. Make 4.

Sew an above Four Patch unit to each side of a teal 1½” x 2½” rectangle. Use the image below as a guide.

Unit measures 2½” x 5½” rectangle. Make 2.

Sew a teal 1½” x 2½” rectangle to each side of a white 1½” square.

Unit measures 1½” x 5½” rectangle. Make 1.

Block Center

Sew the Four Patch rows together with the previous row as shown below to complete the block center.

Block center measures 5½” square.

Sew a teal/white Square unit to each side of a Flying Geese unit. Sew a teal 1½” square to each end.

Side measures 1½” x 5½” rectangle. Make 4.

Sew the previous unit to both sides of the block center.

Sew a HST to the end of the two remaining units. Sew them to the top and bottom of the block.

Block measures 7½” square.
