2014 Sacred Sewing Room Tour

An Enchanted Makeover sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? It IS a dream come true and a positive change for women and children seeking new lives in shelters. When new skills are learned, dreams become possible, and bright futures can be the result! This year, Enchanted Makeovers has teamed up with Baby Lock to bring a Sacred Sewing Room to five women’s shelters.

Starting in June, the Enchanted Makeover National Tour will be launched at selected shelters in five cities throughout the United States. Each shelter will be given a special room–The Sacred Sewing Room–equipped with Baby Lock sewing machines.

Here’s an example of the beautiful gift a Detroit rescue mission received last year. Check out the before and after views of their Sacred Sewing Room:

In shelters with Sacred Sewing Rooms, Enchanted Makeovers volunteers teach residents the basics of sewing. With each class, sewing becomes an important coping mechanism for the women. Empowerment results from learning to do something for themselves and for others, too. Sewing is a life skill that could help them secure a job and build a better future.

I would love a make over for my sewing room

Linda Goulette

Hello! My good friend suggested donating a barely used White Sewing Machine dated 1984 to your program. My home is very near the Taylor, Michigan address on Hipp Street, so delivery would not be a problem for me. I look forward to hearing back from you. God Bless you for all that you do. Sincerely, Linda Goulette 313 485-7202
