In the June TQL, we introduced the delightful Dahlia Clark, a Canadian quilter whose wild dye-painted Giraffe quilt, Kelly, just blew me away when I saw it at the International Quilt Festival last fall. (How did she come up with that crazy angle? You’ll just have to read the article to find out.)
Dahlia, as you’ll see, finds both comfort and inspiration in creatures of the air, land, and sea. Her quilt Meditation 3, a minimalist, modern view of the ocean, is featured in the article. The quilting motifs, best seen from the back of the quilt, reveal the inhabitants of the undersea world. No matter how hard we tried, the photo of the other side just wouldn’t fit into the magazine’s page layout. So here it is now, for your enjoyment…Jan Magee, The Quilt Life
