The Making of a Fairytale Garden

Elaine Braun created a miniature quilt, Fairytale Garden, using 3/16″ hexagons. It won Honorable Mention in the Miniature category at AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah, KY 2016, an award sponsored by Flynn Quilt Frame Company.

It was tricky to turn under the seam allowances as she stitched the tiny hexies on this prize winner, but Elaine tells us how she managed it in this video interview with AQS Executive Show Director Bonnie Browning.

I traveled from California to Paducah and took a lot of photos of the remarkable quilts in the show. This spectacular hexi mini was my favorite of them all and I can’t count how many people I’ve shown the photo to, exclaiming it’s virtues. How wonderful to see the maker and hear how she made the quilt! Thank you so much!

great GREAT video interview!! beautiful little quilt! would love to see close up of the quilt beside it also.
…p.s. absolutely love the new format for QuiltViews. clean, attractive appearance. well organized. much more enjoyable read than older style. kudos to AQS

So very beautiful. I love to paper piece hexigons but I haven’t tried them this small! The video interview was good too. She inspired me to get to work on my next mini-quilt.
