Summer Star

Fabric Requirements

Light Teal – 1 yard

Teal – 3/4 yard

Blue – 1/2 yard

Dark Teal – 1/2 yard

Cream – 1 1/2 yards

Yellow – 1 yard

Light Coral – 1 3/4 yards

Coral – 2 1/8 yards

Dark Coral – 1/4 yard

Binding – 3/4 yard

Backing – 7 1/2 yards

Cutting Instructions

From the light teal fabric, cut:

(4) 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ squares

(12) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

From the teal fabric, cut:

(1) 16 1/2″ x 16 1/2″ square

(4) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

From the blue fabric, cut:

(4) 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ squares

(4) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

From the dark teal fabric, cut:

(8) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

From the cream fabric, cut:

(4) 16 1/2″ x 16 1/2″ squares

(8) 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ squares

 

From the yellow fabric, cut:

(4) 8 1/2″ x 16 1/2″ rectangles

(8) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

From the light coral fabric, cut:

(20) 9″ x 9″ squares

(8) 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ squares

 

From the coral fabric, cut:

(12) 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ squares

(20) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

From the dark coral, cut:

(4) 9″ x 9″ squares

 

For the binding, cut:

(10) 2 1/2″ x width of fabric strips

Instruction

Using the 9″ squares, make the following Half Square Triangles (HST):

  • 32 Coral/Light Coral HST
  • 8 Yellow/Coral HST
  • 8 Dark Teal/Yellow HST
  • 8 Blue/Light Teal HST
  • 8 Dark Teal/Light Teal HST
  • 8 Teal/Light Teal HST

Draw a line on the backside of a square diagonally. Lay right sides together with the other square. Sew a 1/4″ from each side of the drawn line. Cut apart on the line. Press and trim to 8 1/2″.

Quilt Assembly

Using the Half Square Triangles, squares, and rectangles, sew the rows together. 

Once the rows are complete, sew the quilt together.

Layer, quilt as desired, and bind.
