Authorial Content: Submissions are accepted from the original author/copyright owner. By submitting material, you acknowledge that you are legally entitled to distribute the work and that you allow it to be redistributed via our magazine, website, and/or blog and that the content has not been published previously either in print or on the Internet without the AQ editor’s knowledge and consent. Payment for articles varies and is contingent upon content, length, quality of writing, and visuals. We cannot guarantee a publication or online date of release.
Selection Process: After you submit an article or proposal, each person in the Article Selection Committee receives a copy of it. Then, on prearranged dates, a meeting is held wherein all submissions are considered, discussed, and voted upon. The top 10-12 article authors will be notified of acceptance and contracts will be mailed. All authors will be notified of the committee’s vote approximately 3 weeks after the submission deadline.
Submission: Article ideas or queries may be submitted via email to Editor-in-Chief Michele Duffy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Manuscripts may be submitted on a CD in .doc or .docx format with a hardcopy printout accompanying the disk or via email with “submission” in the subject field to Editorial Assistant Ginny Harris at email@example.com. Articles may range from 500 to 1,500 words and have accompanying images. Furthermore, the inclusion of high-quality photos increases the chance of article acceptance; several images of each quilt or project allow the committee to see your submission at its best.
If your article is accepted for publication, our editors may request that you send one or more quilts to our studio in Paducah, Kentucky, for professional photography. There is no cost other than postage for sending in your project.
