Children and creativity go together! And creative children have the opportunity to win in the nationwide School Block Challenge held at The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky. Sponsored by MODA Fabrics, the School Block Challenge is a yearly contest. Participating schools, youth groups and parents are given packets with three fabrics from MODA. Students are required to incorporate all three fabrics in their block.

This block was entered in the K-4th Grade level by Brooke Garland, Izzy Washburn, Amelia Boone, Phoebe Ramsey, Sophia Edwards, Emma Story, Addison Noles, Halle Piercy, and Taylor Cunningham from Benton, Kentucky. The prize was awarded to these young ladies on stage at the Opening Ceremony of this year’s QuiltWeek event in Paducah!

The blocks are judged in categories of K – 4th grades, 5th – 8th grades, and 9th – 12th grades. The grand prize award was given to the overall outstanding quilt block.
