Quilters Supporting Quilters

The AQS QuiltWeek Shows host a variety of amazing vendors. We want to share the story of one special vendor who has a heart for supporting other quilters, not only in offering great products, but also enabling quilters to share their amazing journeys through quilts.

Meet Anne Winchell of Nine Patch Fabrics  in her own words…

As a longtime quilter of almost eighteen years, I have always been fascinated by the creative atmosphere surrounding the quilting community. Through colors, patterns, and fabric, quilters are able to showcase their originality and creativity through art and design. This allows many men and women to be drawn together through this design. Seven years ago, my sister, Frances and I wanted to have a greater place in this community by sharing our passion for sewing and quilting with the world. While my sister has since passed away, both the passion for quilting and the desire to continue her legacy still carry on. Frances’s husband, Ric, and my daughters, Jenny and Andrea, became involved in the business because of this legacy.

Our focus is on wide backing, pre-cut fabrics, and patterns for pre-cuts. Nine Patch Fabrics is your source for quilting supplies and fabric.

We also sell many Creative Grids Rulers. These rulers slide easily over the fabric until pressure is applied then their exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping. Recently Creative Grids introduced a line of machine quilting rulers designed by Angela Walters using their Creative Grids grip. These rulers work great on longarms as well as domestic machines and are a fun way to expand your freemotion quilting repertoire.

We have a wide selection of patterns by Karie Patch Designs, which are beginner-friendly and perfect gifts for children. One of the most popular patterns in our booth is Pick a Pocket. This quilt features pockets for kids to keep some of their favorite items whether it’s a doll or a car, the quilt can be adapted to suit any child.

One Karie Patch pattern we will soon be carrying is an Advent Calendar, which will feature small pockets to hide small gifts and can be adapted for birthdays or other special events for children.

Don’t miss us at any of the QuiltWeek Shows this fall. Come by our booth, we look forward to seeing you!

We are also sponsors of a biennial quilt exhibit in Northern Virginia called Sacred Threads Quilts. This show is special to us as their focus is more weighted on the meaning behind the quilt and the artist’s source of inspiration.

The quilts in Sacred Threads fit the categories of: Expressions of Joy, Spirituality, Inspiration, Grief, Healing and Peace/Brotherhood. The artwork themes provide thought-provoking insights, encouragement, inspiration and healing responses to grief and human hardships. The exhibit is a positive influence on the human spirit, giving joy as well as addressing concerns of the soul and mind. The show is our favorite exhibit in which art quilts are shared in our local community.

Here’s their story…
