Tamara Hanes talks with Sally Manke about her quilt, BLOOMING WINDMILL, at AQS QuiltWeek – Grand Rapids 2018. Sally pieced the background and added a Dresden Plate for the windmill. She uses magnetic channel guides on her Handi Quilter Avanté quilting machine to make the straight-line quilting.

Holding Onto Hope – A Quilt by Amy Cavaness
Amy Cavaness talks with Tamara Hanes of AQS about her quilt, Holding Onto Hope. It is based on the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma and how they persevered the harsh conditions. Amy combined some photos by Dorothea Lang, in creating her quilt that was displayed at AQS QuiltWeek – Grand Rapids 2018. She used painting in the background and raw-edge appliqué and watered-down craft glue as she stitched the design.
