Here at AQS we are all about inspiring quilters. We’ve been brainstorming ways to inspire you in the new year with a creative quilt challenge, and we think you are going to love it. In 2018, we explored quilt styles. In 2019, we explored classic quilt blocks. Now, get ready for Quilt Along 2020!

quilt along 2020

For 2020, we’ve collected 12 of our most popular quilt patterns. We’ll make a quilt a month covering the creative process from selecting colors and fabrics, piecing and assembly tips, and quilting ideas to help you finish your quilt. Each quilt along will feature a giveaway and a discount on batting at ShopAQS. Let’s look at what we’ll make!

Can someone tell me what the finished size of the quilt tops will be?

Debi Moore

What size quilts are you making for the Quilt Along 2020 each month?

Joan Bloom

Must a person do all the quilts, or is choosing just a couple okay?

Mary Pat Proctor

Just to be sure I understand–I see the quilt size–so is it a “giant square” or lots of those squares to make up a quilt? Does my question make sense? For example: For January, is the quilt one big royal star or several 12″ or so royal stars?

Cheryl Gebhart

Are the quilts pictured full size, or are you showing just one block?

Cindy S

What a fun idea! I wonder if it would be too hard to resize them by half? I remember the article last month about making quilts bigger….
it’s getting harder for me to physically manipulate big quilts but I love the idea of making one each month. 🙂

Kathy

I love the idea that I could just pick a few instead of all of them! I am not fast enough to do one a month!!

Sherry MILLER

Is there a place to sign up?

Vivian

Looking forward this ‘challenge’ and decreasing my ‘stash’.

Victoria Smith

Sounds like fun. I would like to participate in this challenge. Hope I can keep up!

Is there an official hashtag so we can track each others post on Instagram? I tagged the badge with #aqsquailtalong2020

I hope this don’t sound stupid but this is my first quilt along. It’s says the pattern is free but the digital pattern is available for purchase. Where do I find the free pattern

Can you still be a part of the sew along if you are not on face book? I would really like to do this and decrease some fabric stash.

Tracey

How hard are the patterns I’m a very new beginner to quilting.

Lots of the quilts feature mostly Half Square Triangles or other simple units. I’d say the quilts range from beginner-friendly to confident beginner-friendly. -Emily

Could you please clarify when the info will be available each month? Is it the first full week, or a particular day? I’ve been looking for the January pattern on January 1st and 2nd, but I don’t see it. I’m excited to get started using up the less loved fabric in my stash!

Deb

Where can I find the pattern for Christmas Countdown for 2020?

Can you tell us how much the digital downloads will be? These quilts are beautiful, but will be even more interesting with borders.
