Quilt Twenty-Nine

60″ x 60″

Fabric Requirements

White – 1 1/4 yards
Beige – 1 yard
Taupe – 2/3 yard
Dark Taupe – 1 yard
Binding – 1/2 yard

Cutting Instructions

From the white fabric, cut:
(4) 10 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ rectangles
(4) 11″ x 11″ squares
(4) 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ squares

From the beige fabric, cut:
(12) 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ squares

From the taupe fabric, cut:
(4) 11″ x 11″ squares

From the dark taupe fabric, cut:
(4) 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ squares
(4) 10 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ rectangles

Assembly

Half Square Triangles

Mark the wrong side of the white 11” squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked white square over a taupe 11” square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.

Trim unit to measure 10 1/2″ square. Make 8.

Flying Geese

Mark a beige 10 1/2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked square in the left corner of a dark taupe 10 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ rectangle. Sew on the marked line. Trim away the excess fabric leaving a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press corner in place. Repeat for the other side using a marked white 10 1/2″ square.

Unit measures 10 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4.

Center Unit

Sew a dark taupe 10 1/2″ square to a beige 10 1/2″ square.

Unit measures 10 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4.

Sew this unit to the top of a Flying Geese unit as shown below.

Unit measures 20 1/2″ square. Make 4.
Using the diagram below, sew the units together into rows, then sew the two rows together to complete the center unit.

Center unit measures 40 1/2″ square. Make 1.

Outer Units

Sew a white/taupe Half Square Triangle to each end of a white 10 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ rectangle as shown below.

Unit measures 40 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4.

Sew a beige 10 1/2″ square to each end of the previous unit.

Unit measures 60 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ rectangle. make 2.

Quilt Assembly

Sew a shorter outer unit to each side of the center unit as shown below.

Sew a longer outer unit to the top and bottom of the center unit as shown below to complete the quilt top.

Layer with batting and backing. Quilt as desired and bind.
