Poole Wins Best Home Machine Workmanship at Grand Rapids in 2015

Joanie Zeier Poole won the award for Best Home Machine Workmanship at the 2014 AQS QuiltWeek Contest in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She started her original quilt, FOLK ART MEETS FREE MOTION, 15 years ago and recently revived it. It’s proof that UFO quilts can become winners! The appliqué on this folk art style quilt was done by hand.

In this video with AQS Executive Show Director Bonnie Browning, Joanie discusses some specifics about quilting this quilt. The 82” square quilt took 160 hours of machine quilting time, and was done on a regular-size home sewing machine.
