Orville has been quilting throughout the past dozen retirement years, just for fun. In that time, he has created over 50 quilts! It seems he’s always making a quilt, and he has shared many photos of them on his MyQuiltPlace.com profile page.
Orville notes that he loves to hand quilt while listening to audio books from the library. If you haven’t accomplished reading while quilting, you should give it a try! Click HERE to see a brief video of Orville’s hand-stitching technique.
No stranger to the Butler County Ohio Fair, he and his wife both took prizes at the fair this year. Check out their Photo Album HERE to see the judging in action.
A photography buff as well, Orville posted a detailed, step-by-step album of his foundation pieced grandmother’s fan. If you use it, send Orville a message through MyQuiltPlace.com to let him know. This was one of the winners at the Butler County Fair 2013. It was awarded First Place Pieced Quilt, and Second Place to Best of Show!
Another beautiful design idea that Orville put into stitching action was quilting a Baptist fan from each corner on all sides on an Around the World Quilt. The circles overlapped in the center for a pleasing effect.
Sharing is familiar to quilters; here’s a photo of a quilt that Orville helped to bind. It was a work-in-progress of a friend. Take a look at this stunning flag quilt!
Just last week, Orville completed the first block for his next quilt. It’s a pattern called Blossoming Tree.
Orville shares his love of traditional style quilts and quilting with a local church quilting group. Here’s a shot of Orville and “the gang” after they quilted a top that Orville pieced.
MyQuiltPlace.com is like that—a community of quilters. From quilting bee to quilting forum, it’s all about sharing projects, advice, and friendship. Thanks for sharing with us on MyQuiltPlace.com, Orville!
