Do you find quilts everywhere you turn? Even when they aren’t quilts, exactly?
The other day a friend and I were minding our own business, walking to a favorite deli for lunch, when POW! We (not literally, fortunately) ran smack into this quilt, wrapped around a tree.
Do you think this is the chicken or the egg? I wonder how many quilters walked past here and were inspired to quilt a cable border. Or perhaps the designer of this cool piece of urban art saw a quilt and thought, “Interesting motif. I like it!”…Jan Magee, The Quilt Life
It’s good to know that I’m not the only one that does this!
Awesome! My husband just shakes his head and walks away when I start taking pictures of carpet and floor tiles that would make good quilt patterns.
I see machine quilting design in grates, fences oh any kind of wrought iron will do.

Seattle Washington has these grate too. A few years ago you would have gotten a POW from them because they were improperly installed around light posts. A few Dogs actually died from lifting their legs on them before they were fixed.
I see quilt patterns in stained glass windows in church!!
I do this all the time. I looked at architecture for inspiration. I have photos of many NY City building features, and a particular train station in New Jersey. Floor tiles in any setting. Love it.
You should have seen the look on my husband’s neurologist’s face when, upon looking at pictures of my husband’s brain, I told her I saw a butterfly to quilt!
