FREE PATTERN: My Daughter’s Garden

Create a special heirloom with this pattern from Bev Remillard of Ladylike Designs. Using a simple floral background, she made this tribute to her daughter’s childhood from long-outgrown clothing. Whether you use fabric that brings back memories or simply want to take a springtime quilt journey with a simple nine-patch, the symmetry and simplicity of this quilt design make it a treat to sew!

Bev says of her 29-year-old daughter, “It’s been a joy to be her mother, and my tribute to her childhood includes this quilt. I remember each dress, shorts, top that I cut to include in this quilt and where we were going or what we were doing. My daughter was very “girly” and loved all kinds of colors.”

Bev was a fairly new quilter when she designed this quilt, and it was the start of her romantic color style. She loved the way the colorful fabrics played with the pretty background and the look of a soft, pretty print with bold, bright prints and tones! She says, “It is very pleasing to my eye and my quilting heart.”

Bev offers this free pattern in hopes that new or younger quilters begin their quilt journey with a simple nine patch. It is part of a series of patterns called “Modern Girl” for those who want to begin experiencing the love of quilting without worrying about color matching and style.

Thanks, Bev, for sharing your pattern with us! You can find Bev Remillard online at Ladybird Designs, “Romantic Quilts with Modern Design.”
