Cutting Instructions:
From the white fabric, cut:
(4) 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles
(8) 2″ x 2″ squares
(12) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
From the dark blue fabric, cut:
(4) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
(8) 2″ x 2″ squares
From the light blue fabric, cut:
(8) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
(4) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
From the dark purple fabric, cut:
(1) 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square
Instructions:
Half Square Triangles
Mark the back of the 2″ white squares diagonally from corner to corner. Use this as a guide to make half square triangles. Layer with the 2″ dark blue squares and sew 1/4″ from the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line to make two half square triangles.
Size the half square triangles to 1 1/2″ each. Make 16.
Square in a Square
Mark the back of the 1 1/2″ white squares diagonally from corner to corner. Lay the 1 1/2″ white square in the corner of the 2 1/2″ dark purple square. Sew on the drawn line. Cut 1/4″ on the outside of the drawn line. Press. Repeat for the other three corners.
Note: the colors for the fabrics shown below are different than the instructions, but the same techniques apply.
