Half Square Triangles
Mark the wrong side of the red 3” squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked square over a cream 3” square, right sides together. Sew a ¼” from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line. Trim unit to 2½” square. Make 4.

Mark the wrong side of the cream 1½” square in half diagonally once. Lay the marked square right sides together with a red 1½” x 2½” rectangle, oriented as shown below. Sew on the marked line. Trim excess a quarter inch from the sewn line and press.
Repeat on the other side with another marked cream 1½” square. Make 4 red/cream Flying Geese units.
Repeat with the cream 2½” x 4½” rectangles and green 2½” squares. Make 4 cream/green Flying Geese units.
Use the diagram below to layout the Center Star into three rows using (4) cream 1½” squares, (4) red/cream Flying Geese, and (1) cream 2½” square. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the Center Star. Unit measures 4½” square unfinished. Make 1 Center Star.
Use the block diagram above to layout the block into three rows. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 8½” x 8½” unfinished.
